BMW M5 PHOTOSHOOT

With the recent introduction of the 7th generation G90 M5 into South Africa, we tried to gather all 7 M5s on one location for an M5 Generational Shoot

It was a wonderful afternoon spent with enthusiasts who were extermely excited to be a part of this. 

We were also joined by another M5 enthusiast Fred Booysen with his E39

The only other time i've seen all 7 M5s together was at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last year. 

 About the BMW M5

Lets take a quick look at the recipe for an M5:-

From the first generation of M5 ie the E28 - BMW took a standard 5 series...

(Now the 5 series on its' own, whether it's an early gen 518 E12, or the newest diesel version, is a brilliant all-round vehicle. Probably the best all-rounder ever,  Its always at the forefront of its' class of motor vehicle - not just for BMW, but for motor vehicles in general.)

So BMW took a standard 5'er shell, then gave it to their BMW///M department to install a worked engine, a stiffer suspension, some sporty interior bits, bigger wheels and brakes to give the vehicle some ///Motorsport magic.   

The Motorsport aspect is not just a word for BMW. 

BMW Motorsport means experience from taking part in race series' such as Touring Cars, World Endurance Racing,  GT challenge, etc.

They even went into F1, building monster turbo engines in the 80s, and then in the early 2000s during that superb V10 era. 

Likewise with this new model (G90) , the V8 Hybrid drivetrain is also used in the BMW sports racing car which competes in the FIA World Endurance Race Championship. 

The BMW M5 will always remain the undisputed King of 4 door saloon cars.
