Showcasing South African BMWs and its passionate fans

CHIP MOOSA TO GRAVITY 2025

Posted on: 15 July 2025

A couple of years ago, local car builder Tariq Moosa customized one of BMWs most iconic models to compete in a Motor Exhibition over in the UK.

ChipMoosa,(as Tariq is commonly known amongst car enthusiasts all over SA), owner of Chicanos Customs based in Wynberg Johannesburg, tastefully customized a Left-handed BMW E9 to take part in the popular Gravity Car Show which takes place in England annually. (read more about that E9 here)- www.sabeemer.co.za/sa-built-e9-wins-in-the-uk.

This automotive event held by SlammedUK displays the best stance cars from the UnitedKingdom, and all around Europe.

Chip’s dedication to showcase the South African car culture and passion overseas was rewarded when his E9 won at the Gravity Show in 2023.

Now 2 years later Chip is embarking on another exhibition to the UK show.

This time however, Chip really outdid himself by setting himself a goal that most of us wouldn’t even think of attempting.

In 2023 when Chip came back from the UK, I remember chatting to him about his next project to take over to the Gravity Car Show. At that time he was a bit undecided with some options and ideas.

He had this thought of finding a wagon E34 5series, then getting an E34 M5 as a donor car to create a replica E34M5 wagon, then bag it.

He found the wagon but it needed a lot of work. He then found an E34M5 but it was to clean to strip, so he kept that one, then had to find another E34M5 to strip, which wasn’t an easy find.

But the thing is - the E34 was only a third of his 2025 Gravity display build challenge.

Chip wanted to build another car for the E34 to tow as part of the display, so he customised one of BMWs favourite little gems - a 2002.  This meant a complete spray job, new wheels, and custom interior with a bagged suspension. The '02 would then bring the project to a 2-third completion stage.

To complete the display at a satisfactory point for Chip, he decided to bag the trailer that the 2002 will be standing on as well.

These 3 amazing creations will be shipped over to the UK this week for the competition which takes place Aug  23rd & 24th in Birmingham.

In addition to the Gravity Show, Chip has also been invited to 5 other shows around Europe with one of them being the popular Essen Motorshow in Germany.

Once again we wish Chip huge success for his journey across the shores to represent South Africa and showcase our passion to the rest of the world by actually doing what most just talk about.
