BMW CAR CLUB CONCOURS 2023

I've attended the BMW Car Club Gauteng Concours d'Elegance event since 2012 (and even once before that in 2003) at the Nelson Mandela square in Sandton JHB.
It is an annual event and has changed venues quite a few times, sometimes being at Monti Casino, and sometimes held at SilverStar Casino. It also takes place at MFest Kyalami every second year.

This year however it was held for the first time at The Mall of Africa's delightful Waterfall Park in Midrand.  

While the Sandton Citys' Nelson Mandela Square venue would still be the best setting for this event, their latest management rules and changes
have made it difficult to do an event there, and a similar venue would be hard to come by, especially when cars and BMWs are involved.

Thankfully The Mall of Africa management was a bit kinder to Johann Venter and his team of BMW Club comittee members to display some enthusiastic metal for this annual competition.

SABeemer was allowed to be a part of this event with our own little display area showcasing some cars and our latest magazine to all that attended this event.

I just had to send our E60 M5 down to Joburg for this event. The E60 was stored in Durban after our uShaka exhibition 2 weeks ago so it needed to bebrought down to Jobug. After getting pricing to put the car on the truck, it worked out cheaper for me to fly to Durban from Cape Town, and then drive the 560km to Joburg with the V10. It would also be alot more fun than sending it on a truck and then me flying to joburg.

So the day before the Concours, we drove the E60 down to Joburg to be a part of our display. 

The sunday morning of the Concours started off very early and well, with beautiful cars arriving during the cold morning before the sunshine.
The event was divided into 2 parts with a competitors ring closed off for owners to prepare and then be judged according the different class categories as per international BMW Clubs standards.

There was also another section where most of the older race Beemers and those that take part in the BMW Car Clubs race series, were on display
together with cars that were pre-registered and booked in to the display area

The selection of cars at Concours is always a treat, there is always something good to see.
There are many sought after cars that we dont get to see everyday, and this is the day that some of them come out for the public to see.

For a BMW fan, this event is a must at least once in a lifetime.

Besides the cars, we also get to meet interesting people that are passionate about their Beemers and are always keen to chat.
