MINI SOUTH AFRICA

This is the first time we showcase a MINI on SABeemer.

The chique, stylish and trendy little British car brand that BMW AG took into its reigns when it acquired Rover in 1994.

Before this acquisition, the MINI production model ran from 1959 to 2000. All based on the original platform but with different variations.

BMW AG pumped some good cash into the MINI brand since 2001 to revive it and allow the brand to regain its top spot in the small fun-car segment. It's not the first occasion that BMW Germany acquired a British auto production.

The very first BMW labelled motor vehicles were in fact -  a brand called Dixi. BMW bought this car firm over in 1928, and these Dixi’s were actually Austin Sevens brought over from England. Also let’s not forget the other top marque that BMW also owns which is also of English origin– Rolls Royce.

MINI cars were synonymous for their go-kart feel and handling in a road car, making the driving experience a fun one. And this form of driveability is a blueprint of all things BMW. Being a Front Wheel Drive vehicle wasn’t an issue. It just had to deliver the same welcoming impact to the driver that all of their products do.

The R56 Cooper S we feature here today belongs to an adorable, fun-loving young lady Naadhirah aka Freckles. It’s a 2011 model in White Silver finish. It is kitted out with the full JCW package and it was all spec’d by Naadhirah herself.

She finds it impossible to submit just one outstanding feature of her car and claims she” just loves every ‘friggin’ thing about it.”

Her motto is “My Mini & I,…. we keep it wild”

Everything we do on SABeemer is born out of a passion for driving, and Naadhirah is no exception to this cult.

She got her passion for driving from her mom, who was a biker back in the day. “My mom has a heavy foot and she is crazy about speed” she claims. “She taught me to drive when I was really young, and that’s where I picked up my driving skills from.”

Naadhirah’s love of cars also comes from her 2 uncles. One of whom is also a biker, and the other a particular M3 driver. This uncle also owned 2 x 325iS’ an E36 M3 and an E46 M3, and currently has the E92 M3. So we see the BMW blood lines originality in this young lady.

Her dream for the future is to own a V8 M3.  She is especially fond of the growling acoustics of a V8. She refers to V8s as her ‘kinda thing’

She thanks her mom hugely and states that her mom has made one of her biggest dreams come true. She also gives special thanks to her dad for getting her where she is today and not forgetting her brother who “is just the coolest”.
