BMW DAY GP 2025
Posted on: 20 September 2025
The rain came to play with Gauteng"s finest BMWs
The challenge of a suitable venue in the Gauteng region was made easy with the fantastic setting that is FAST5 RACEWAY in the the South of Joburg.
While some were familiar with the location , most would be introduced to it for the first time.
Set in the picturesque hills of Elandsfontein on the R550 Nettleton Road, this fantastic facility is welcoming for any person.
It is a refreshing space where car fans of all ages can enjoy any sort of motoring and motorsports with families and friends, which has always been the basis on what our events are about. - A fun filled family day with BMW enthusiasts.
The issues of BMW drivers being reckless in public spaces and roads seem to be haunting us all over, not just in Cape Town.
At our last show in Gauteng at The Glen shopping center (which was a fantastic feature and highlight on our annual calendar) it was not extended due to guys not abiding by the no spinning and no over-revving rules and misbehaving. Hereby putting all at risk especially young kids who constantly move around. This has seriously damaged the BMW-community's reputation with venues and making it difficult to acquire spots.
With FAST5 MOTORSPORT Raceway, the facility allows us to do everything in a safe and custom built environment.
The facility hosts a drag strip, a spin/drift arena, a mass park-off area, a concrete display area , as well as vast space for food and any kind of pop-up stalls. They even have a fully function wedding hall as well as chalets for overnight visiotrs.
They currently run drags every Tuesday nights.
It would be a perfect venue for our BMWDAYGP.
The date set 12th Oct was the Sunday immediately after our Annual Tunnel Run in Capetown.
We were graced with some rain in the morning of the 12th, which dampened some guys spirits but not the die-hard enthusiasts.
The guys of Rennzport pulled up hard with a fantastic display of modern BMWs which looked even more fantastic in the wet.
As the morning progressed, the rain started to clear and more and more of Gauteng"s finest BMWs pulled in.
Some lovely food vendors offered a variety of lovely eat & treats.
ZAA from AutoSpa also arrived with a crew of fabulous cars including his most recent project, A custom E30 on some 18 Alpinas.
NAS Concepts came to liven the hills up with the sound of a high revving V8 on the drift pitch.
We started show & shine entries and BMW Classic fundi Mr Peter Karvelas started judging.
At around 2pm (after Vic jokingly asked the guys not to wipe their cars down as it would bring the rain)
10 minutes later, a sudden storm hit with wind and rain soaking most of the attendees and vendors.
Gazebos had to beld down by hand to protect the beautiful cars around us, while the rain drenched us for about 10 minutes.
Thankfully it stopped and everyone was safe.
While we always ask for a good day from our Creator above , we cannot be ungrateful about the rain.
At around 3pm we wrapped up the show & shine entries and awarded the contestants.
Nevertheless it was an experience we all laughed about at the end of the day.
Thaks to Zaid Bawa and Asma Ebrahim for the pics
